What is PDA?
Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) is a complex Autism Spectrum Condition that needs a very different approach to the usual one adopted with individuals with autism.
Who is this training for?
This training is ideal for anyone who works with children, teenagers and young adults with Pathological Demand Avoidance. It gives an excellent overview of the condition and provides attendees with a toolkit of useful and effective strategies.
So whether you’re a teacher, teaching assistant, learning support, parent, youth worker, childminder, carer….. or in fact in any place where you may come into contact with young people who have autism… you need this training!
This unique and ground-breaking programme is running
from 9.30am 3.30pm on
20 April 2018, in Euston, London.
To attend as a participant for CPD, the cost is £195.
To gain a national qualification, accredited by OCN London, at Level 2, the cost is only £235.
The training includes many important tactics to take away and use in your setting.
Here’s what’s covered:
- Understand the meaning of Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA).
- Understand the impact PDA has on a child, teenager or young adult and how they might be supported.
- Understand the key principles of positive behaviour management when working with children, teenagers and young adults with PDA.
- Understand the effects that PDA has on learning and how to reduce the impact of this.
Your trainer for the day is Laura Kerbey, a specialist in the field of autism and PDA.
