PDA Awareness – 5 August 2021

PDA Awareness
Thursday 5 August  9am – 11am

Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) is part of the complex Autistic Spectrum Conditions, one that is not recognised by certain healthcare professionals (for EHCP purposes).

People with PDA need a very different approach to the usual which is successfully adopted with individuals who have autism.

In this session, we will help you to get to the heart of the condition, and know how to reduce anxiety and have a calmer learning space.

So if you need help to support behaviours such as pupils:

  • appearing sociable, but lacking depth in understanding
  • excessive mood swings and impulsivity
  • obsessive behaviour, often focussed on people, either loving or loathing them

…… or very demand avoidant (refusing, upset, outbursts), this training is FOR YOU!

During this training session, our aims are that participants will:

  • Get to know the meaning of Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA).
  • Understand the impact of PDA on an individual
  • Gain techniques for positive behaviour management which work well with PDA
  • Understand how PDA affects learning

We’ll provide you with lots of resources for you to take away and use as a reference point in the future.

We look forward to seeing you there!
