4 ideas for starter activities

After an inspirational afternoon with college lecturers, here are just a few quick nibble-sized nuggets which they use for starter activities:

  • “The Fantastic 9” Students are required to work in groups for 5 minutes to decide on the 9 key words for the current subject.  Can be used as a transition between activities to embed and move on.

  • Re-arrange sentences.  Show sentences in the wrong order and ask students to re-arrange.

  • Choose a student to introduce the lesson and read through the Learning Outcomes.

  • Show a picture and ask how it relates to the current subject (gets the mind into the zone).
