Questioning Techniques – You Ask, but Do They Answer?
This session will raise awareness of the purpose of questioning and provide strategies for effective questioning to assess learning. Available in ‘nibble-sized’ sessions:
– 1.5 hour duration
– blocks of 2 per half day or 3 per whole day
Teachers, Teaching Assistants and Learning Support Assistants.
■ Describe a number of reasons for asking questions in lessons
■ Differentiate between open and closed questions
■ Ask follow-up questions
■ Describe the concept of differentiated questioning
■ Write open questions suitable for nominating weaker/stronger learners
